Volunteering at the Jane Weber Arboretum

Generally, our volunteers work on an area that is special to them or they just see a need to spruce things up.

We have three main volunteer areas. The Arboretum which encompasses the property grounds, The Stanger House restoration and the Caboose restoration.

Our volunteers show up rain or shine. Extreme weather can cancel plans.

Monthly, we have our Second Saturday Work Party from 9am to noon. We often work on bigger projects and refreshments are always served.

The Stanger House was built by John Stanger in 1867. Volunteers have been working on the restoration of the house to better reflect the period prior to the Weber’s ownership and helps to tell the history of early life in Vancouver.

The Stanger House has a work crew that meets Friday mornings from 9am to noon. This can include carpentry or electrical work or general non-skilled tasks. Refreshments provided.

The railroad caboose is one of two constructed by the Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railway in October of 1942 in shop facilities in Vancouver, Washington. The Caboose is in poor condition and restoration is taking place to preserve the structure.

A work party occurs every Wednesday unless weather pushes the work party to another day.
